I have never tried a juice fast. Do you have any good recipes of what types of juices I should make? And what juices would be good for the various times of day to keep my energy level up? Thanks
Hi Marla - I don't have any recipes per se. I tend to throw whatever I have around into my juicer, but I would definitely use a couple of pieces of fruit in every juice to add sweetness. In my juice fasting article I had given the types of veggies and fruits you should use at certain times in the day. Try that and see what happens...if it doesn't work you can go from there....good luck!
I tried a juice fast last weekend (Sat. & Sun.) In the morning I'd have carrot, apple juice. For lunch / dinner Tomato, celery, spinach with a dash of sea salt.. delicious! I also drank a lot of water . I felt great and didn't really get that hungry. Next time I 'm going to try three days.
Hmm, Dan, your juice sounds tasty! What type of juicer do you use. It looks like I will need to purchase one, however, before I do so, if anyone has any recommendations, please pass them on!
I use the Jack La Lane Juicer. It works well. You have to take it apart to clean it which can be kind of a pain. But after you've done it a few time it gets easier.
Thanks for the info. I will check it out.
I also wanted to mention that you can save the pulp from the veggies and boil with water and a little sea salt to make a nice vegetable broth. Freeze in small containers for future uses...
That is a great idea saving the pulp for a tasty, healthy broth. I have a question, by just using the juice of the fruit or vegetable aren't you loosing out on a lot of important nutrients and fiber in the fruit or vegetable?
No. You are getting so many vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and natural sugars from the juice. The point of doing a juice fast is to give your digestive system a break from having to digest...if you add the fiber your digestive system isn't resting.
I've recently heard that studies have shown that people who have juiced regularly throughout their lives look a lot younger when they are old than people who have not regularly juiced. Time to start juicing!
